About book and film censorship

Do you think some books or movies should be censored or should people be allowed to see and read what they want?

 

I think extrem forms of literature and film should be controled but not banned.

Take children for example, they dont need to expose to the nudity and that kind of information at such an early age. But besides children, I think all books should be avaliable to anyone who wants it. Censoring books means limiting information, which can only bring negtive effects to a society. Instead, we should learn to avoid the kinds of materials we dont like, despite their avaliability. But what is happening in China is that book censorship is happening everywhere. For example, you cannot buy a book from Taiwai because of history and politics. I strongly disagree with this policy but I think we can do nothing about it as of now. As adults in a society, we should be able to read whatever we want desipite of this policy, because sometime it is very import to learn the exotic ideas and culture. so I think the idea of censorship borthers me in general.

 

Film censorship is a topic I know little about. I'm sure sometimes, some films should be censored because they contain too much sexual content. But I doubt some action movies are being censored too much because of violence, not to mention so many war movies and documenteries are being cut off too much content because of politics. While it is true though, if a film is rated for R, which means it might contain nudity or violence. As you can imagine, those adults only content should be cut off if it is shown on TV. This is understandable, going back to my original point, that children are not eligible for this kind of content.

 

In the end, I dont think books should be censored at all. As for movies, it is necessary to get them censored if put on TV.
