• The screen must support at least 96 x 54 pixels.
• There must be at least one type of user input available: one-handed keyboard (telephone
keypad), two-handed keyboard (typical QWERTY keyboard) or a touch screen.
• 128 kilobytes non-volatile memory to run Mobile Information Device (MID) components.
• At least 8 kilobytes of non-volatile memory for applications to store persistent data, such as
application settings and data.
• 32 kilobytes of volatile memory to run Java.
• Wireless network connectivity.


software requirement
• The operating system running on the device must provide minimal scheduling, exception
handling and processing of interrupts. There must also be sufficient capabilities to run a JVM.
• The software must support writing of bitmapped graphics to the display.
• Using any of the three input types described above, the software must accept input and pass
the information to the JVM.
• To support persistent data, there must be capabilities to read and write to/from non-volatile
memory. Remember, there is no requirement defined for a file system. Any application data
that needs to persist when the device is shut off will need to be written to memory.
