JDK DST Compliance Checking

The following is an case for checking of Jdk 1.5.0_10:
The JDK 1.5.0_10 is USDDST 2007(See 2 for detail) data compliant. But there is a new data change(tzdata2007g, See 1 for detail) for America/Indiana that is not included in this version. If we don't need this new data change, it's OK for us to use JDK 1.5.0_10 in PROD. My suggestion is to run tzupdater to get the latest tz information after JDK installation whichever JDK version we use.

The following is the detail TimeZone Data Version in the JRE Software(http://java.sun.com/javase/timezones/tzdata_versions.html):

Olson Tzdata Version
Introduced in JRE Update Release
TZupdater Version
Main Changes in This Olson Release

tzdata2007g
5.0u13
6u3
1.2.2
New data for Australia (2008) and for America/Indiana

tzdata2006k
5.0u10
6
n/a
New data for Honduras, Bermuda, Moncton, Blanc-Sablon, Gaza, and Cuba

tzdata2005m
5.0_u6

n/a
Includes the USDST 2007 data

Note: Olson timezone data is cumulative. For example, if you have installed tzdata2007g, then you do not need to install any previous release to get all the data for New Zealand.

1. With tzdata2007g, the timezones of "America/Indiana/Vincenes" and "America/Indiana/Petersburg" include a future change in their GMT offset value. Both these timezones move from CST to EST on Nov 4 2007.(http://java.sun.com/javase/tzupdater_README.html)
2. The U.S. Energy Policy Act of 2005 mandates that, effective as of 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States will begin on the second Sunday of March and end on the first Sunday of November. Before, DST started on the first Sunday of April and ended on the last Sunday of October.
